Kolkata Family Forces Teen and Relatives to Strip, Parade After Kissing Incident
A kissing incident involving a 13-year-old girl in Kolkata's Behala escalated into an alleged public humiliation as relatives forced a teen and his friend to strip and walk under gun threats. Police have arrested three family members as the video spreads.
The incident took place on October 25 at Basundhara Park in Behala, where the girl's relatives confronted the teen and his friend after finding them kissing her. The confrontation escalated when the relatives allegedly called the teenage boy's father and subjected all three to humiliation and threats.
According to the account, the family forced the three individuals to strip and walk approximately 50 meters while threatening them with a gun. A video of the incident subsequently spread widely on social media, drawing attention to the alleged public humiliation and violence.
The victims described the family's laughter during the ordeal and alleged that they were threatened with false cases. The incident has raised concerns over the use of intimidation and violence in response to a personal dispute involving a minor.
Police arrested the girl's father, mother and uncle in connection with the incident. Charges filed against them include attempt to murder, wrongful confinement and violations of the Arms Act.
West Bengal Minister Agnimitra Paul condemned the incident, vowing that no one would escape justice. Her statement came amid widespread attention following the circulation of the video.
Police are continuing to investigate the case, including the circumstances surrounding the confrontation, the alleged threats involving a firearm and the actions that led to the public humiliation of the three victims.
The case has brought into focus the distinction between concerns over child protection and the use of mob justice, as authorities investigate allegations of violence, intimidation and unlawful confinement.
